Robert Baker – Professional Bridge Tuition
Robert has been playing bridge competitively since the age of sixteen and at
aged 23 he became a Life Master of the English Bridge Union. He had success at
both local and national level, representing Warwickshire (his home county),
Northamptonshire and Somerset in both the Pachabo Cup and the Tollemache Cup
(the two premier inter-county team tournaments) as well as appearing in the
final of the Crockfords Cup (the English Knockout Teams competition) and winning
the National Swiss Teams.
He currently partners his wife, Jacky, and together they have had numerous
tournament successes including winning the major teams title at the West of
England Congress (twice) and the Avon Swiss Teams, as well as pairs or teams
championships at bridge congresses in, amongst others, Droitwich, Cheltenham,
Porthcawl, Torquay, and Bedford.
For the last eight years Robert has been teaching bridge in the West of England.
He has developed a unique series of PowerPoint presentations on all aspects of
the game. These have been designed to follow the syllabus of the English Bridge
Union Teachers' Association, of which Robert is a
Professional Member, the highest
qualification of teacher. The first series of these presentations have now been
purchased by the
English Bridge Union and are to
be used by some of their senior teachers. His website www.bridgetuition.co.uk
has received praise from many bridge players and bridge writers such as Ron
Klinger and Andrew Robson.
